Every summer, the curators at The Antique Trading Post travel to find unique objects. However, this year, we have a bit of a situation. This season, The Antique Trading Post is closed while I investigate a few disturbances.
It began when Alice—witch, prop master, and now, repeat customer—acquired a collection from a defunct estate: nine reel-to-reel recordings, a stack of séance journals (1934–1936), and a Victrola that still smells faintly of candle wax and incense.
The ten-inch, 78 RPM records, now known as The Nine Harmonics, are not exactly music. Instead, they shift in and out of sync—overlapping incantations with frequencies that swell, filling the room and shifting the atmosphere.
Here is an example:
The Five created these artifacts in the 1930s, recording and cataloging paranormal studies. Each carried a unique gift and burden: a medium who bridged worlds, a prophetess haunted by visions, a wild spellcaster with a shadowed past, a musician who summoned spirits through harmonics, and a chronicler who captured their story.
Alice bought the entire collection from The Antique Trading Post and transported it to an indie film set at Thornwood Castle. According to her, things are already going sideways, and I sense she remembers more than she admits.
Lily, the director, plans to cast her roommate Sadie in the séance scene. Perhaps she does not realize that Sadie is more than a medium. She is also a magnet. Melody has not joined the crew yet, but the vintage rotary phone she bought has already started ringing, which would not be unusual if there were a phone line.
I am unsure if it is them. However, I am beginning to suspect they are returning. If so, there is one more who will soon get the call.
The Antique Trading Post will reopen in September. Until then, learn more about what has occured:
